Organic food is produces that have been grown without the use of synthetic pesticides, fertilizers and other chemicals. Moreover, it represents a set of principles and standards concerning sustainability and quality of food. As organic producer, we want to ensure the integrity of our food chain and to create a legacy of fertile land that could produce healthy food for future generations. Organically-grown produce simply taste better and studies have proven that organic crops contain much higher levels of vitamin C, minerals, enzymes and other micro-nutrients than conventional crops. The use of synthetic pesticides produce abundant, low-cost food but at the same time, they create higher social costs. The amount of time, expense and trouble devoted to restoring clean air, water and soil is greater than any advantages pesticides offer. Intensive, conventional farming methods expose workers to harmful chemicals and pesticides that could potentially endanger their lives. There are much higher occurrences of cancer, respiratory problems and other major diseases in workers from non-organic farms, particularly in developing countries. Organic farming promotes biodiversity and wildlife. As organic producer, we do our part to protect the environment by using natural pesticides and fertilizers to enrich the soil. Furthermore, organic farming reduces toxic runoff and pollutants that contaminate our water.
